Cornwall Beneath and Beyond shortlisted for Holyer an Gof Publishers Awards 2025

Cornwall Beneath and Beyond shortlisted for Holyer an Gof Publishers Awards 2025

Absolutely stoked that Cornwall Beneath and Beyond shortlisted for Holyer an Gof . The Bards of Gorsedh Kernow organise this award to promote books about Cornwall, set in Cornwall or in Cornish (Kernewek).

Each year the Bards of Gorsedh Kernow receive 60 – 80 submissions from publishers in Cornwall and beyond. To make the shortlist in the general fiction section is truly an honour – especially in the company of so many excellent books! The shortlists included a number of Cornish anthologies this year. Of these, 13 Cornish Ghost Stories won the general fiction award. Twelve Stories for Twelve Sections won the literary fiction award.

Awards Co-ordinator pleased that Cornwall Beneath and Beyond shortlisted

In her summation of Cornwall Beneath and Beyond and Cornwall Writers, Kim Cooper, co-ordinator of the Adult Fiction section, told the audience she was “really pleased to be able to highlight their good work” especially in “providing a platform for new writers.”

Pictured above: short story authors for Cornwall Beneath and Beyond – Anita Hunt, Ulrike Duran, T J Dockree, Christiana Richardson and Emily Charlotte Ould at the awards ceremony with their shortlist award.

Ulrike Duran and Christiana Richardson were also there with Kerry Vincent to collect the shortlist award for poetry for Mordros.

If you scroll down their blog page a little further, you will also see myself and co-author Kate Barden in the featured image for the Holyer an Gof Publishers Awards – Guidelines for publishers 2024-5. This was taken at last year’s awards by official photographer James Kitto. Last year, Kate Barden as poet with myself as publisher, picked up the shortlist award for Mordargh.
