First Not Second Homes have been out there raising awareness and petitioning MPs to speak out for Cornish residents no longer able to afford to live in Cornwall.
Cornwall has been hit by an increase in second home ownership during lockdown. Many people are now renting out as Airbnb rather than to families in need of homes. This has obviously had a huge impact on homelessness in Cornwall. In December 2021, at the time of the demonstrations, homelessness in Truro was particularly high.
Camilla Dixon, my old fashion design tutor, borrowed the hoodie guys I created for my graduation collection for a couple of demonstrations, and we even made it onto the telly!

We also made it onto the cardboard telly in the First Not Second Homes Living Room Exhibition at Royal Cornwall Museum. Camilla Dixon curated the Living Room with the most amazing cardboard furniture and decorations made by talented technical staff from Falmouth University.
